How to Find Out if Your License is Suspended

In Arizona, driving on a suspended driver’s license is a class 1 misdemeanor. The Arizona Department of Transportation’s Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) assesses points against a person’s driving record for certain offenses. Anyone who accumulates at least 8 points during any 12-month time period may have their driver’s license suspended for up to one year.

Courts do not have access to a person’s MVD records and are therefore unable to look up license status.

To check if you have a suspended driver’s license, you must go through the Motor Vehicle Division directly. The easiest way to do this is through your online AZ MVD Now account. This will allow you to check the status of your license as well as to reinstate your license, replace your license, renew your vehicle registration, register to vote, and more.

For additional information, the Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles can be reached at 602-255-0072.
